About E U N O I A:
E U N O I A is a social enterprise that sells Tote bags that are hand-painted by the talented local artisans of India, verified and sourced by the NGO Habba. Each bag comes with its own unique design that has been painted by talented artisans. E U N O I A began as a dream when I did a summer programme on entrepreneurship at the Columbia Business School.
About Habba:
Habba is an initiative to provide fair profits to artisans across India by selling products made by India's local artisans to bring back handmade India. With the help of Habba, we were able to get in touch with the talented local artisans of India for the Tote bags that you are buying to help and support them. Check them out here: https://habba.org/dilse
About the Artisans:
The artisans of VANITHE are from the urban communities of South Bangalore. VANITHE (meaning graceful lady in Kannada) was formed by 15 women to improve their socio-economic status. It is an urban Self-Help Group, that came together during a shared training course. The group naturally came together because of their shared skills. The group began to share tips and tricks with each other and found that together they were able to produce outstanding products using their skills in Tailoring, Embroidery, Crochet, jewellery design and other crafts like Madhubani paintings, block-printing, papercrafts.
The artisans have basic education but face the challenges and expenses of urban living. Knowing that job prospects are poor in the current times, they have used their skills and entrepreneurial spirit to create an environment of continuous learning, reskilling and income generation through VANITHE. These artists migrated from different south Indian states and stayed near the outskirts of Bangalore.
About Me:
Hi, my name is Aarushi Gupta and I am a 15-year-old, studying in eleventh grade. I started E U N O I A hoping to support local artisans in India and make a difference to the environment by selling reusable Tote bags.
About Columbia's Venture for Creation Programme:
I was part of the best venture pitch team at Columbia University's Venture for All Global Entrepreneurship and Leadership Innovation Course. This Summer Programme got me thinking about starting my own online venture to support the local artisans of India and the environment. You too can join this programme: https://www8.gsb.columbia.edu/ventureforall/
When you buy our hand-painted bag, all our profits go to the local artisans to support them. Also, by buying a reusable tote grocery bag, you are helping the environment as instead of the plastic or polythene bags that you use for groceries, you can bring your own reusable tote bag to help the environment and go green this year.
So, go ahead and buy the Eunoia hand-painted bags and show your support for the artisans of India and our environment
